KUALA LANGAT, Aug 2 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI has allocated RM124,700 to assist the victims of the Morib storm disaster and to repair its fishermen’s jetty.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said of this amount, RM76,000 has been distributed to 152 affected families, each receiving RM500.

The remaining RM48,700 has been given to the fishermen’s representatives to repair the jetty in Kampung Kelanang.

“The assistance’s allocation has been approved for some time now. Today, via MBI, we finally have the opportunity to come here and settle the outstanding payments.

“The amount may not be substantial, but we hope it will help to alleviate some of the disaster victims’ losses after the June 14 incident, as well as repair the fishermen’s jetty,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking at the aid’s handover ceremony, where MBI’s chief operating officer Saipolyazan M Yusop presented it to the recipients at Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Morib yesterday.

The June 14 storm disaster damaged 152 residences in several areas, including 62 homes in Kampung Morib, followed by Kampung Tali Air (42), Kampung Kanchong Darat (24), Kampung Kelanang (15), Kamping Endah (five), Kampung Kanchong Tengah (three), and Kampung Sungai Lang Tengah (one).

Previously, MBI spent RM330,000 as of July this year to assist disaster victims in Selangor, including contributions for fire, natural disasters, storms, and floods, among others.
