National Day: Visitors advised to use public transport, take care of safety

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 — Visitors attending the National Day 2023 celebration in Putrajaya on Aug 31 are advised to use public transport for a smooth journey to the celebration.

The Communications and Digital Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa also advised the public to take care of themselves and their children and take steps to stay safe when they are at the location of the celebration, which is likely to host 100,000 visitors.

“In our joy to celebrate National Day, be wary of safety by following all traffic rules and orders from the authorities.

“We also have feeder buses, the Nadi Putra bus that provides service in Putrajaya starting as early as 4 am to 2 pm and there are two pick up points, at Putrajaya Sentral and Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) and busses will ply the route every every 10 minutes,” he said on the Selamat Pagi Malaysia programme here today.

Mohamad Fauzi, who is also the National Day and Malaysia Day 2023 Technical Committee chairman, said the Mass Rapid Transit service has also been asked to coordinate the operating hours for the convenience of the public during the celebration.

Mohamad Fauzi added that several facilities were also provided including parking, eating places, medical tents and toilets for the convenience of visitors.

On the celebration, Mohamad Fauzi said more than 16,000 participants from 65 contingents from various agencies will participate in the 2023 National Day Celebration parade.

“Several preparations have been planned including major events such as the Launch of the Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s address in conjunction with National Day this Wednesday, the National Day Celebration, and the celebration of Malaysia Day.

“We will have various other events such as the ‘Jalur Gemilang’ tour convoy and flag handover, an inter-ministry programme, as well as the commemoration of statesman Tun Dr Ismail Abdul Rahman.”
