State polls: Smooth traffic flow on several major highways

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 — The traffic flow on several major highways is smooth, with no congestion reported ahead of the polling day for state elections in six states this Saturday (August 12).

The Malaysia Highway Authority (MHA) said traffic at the Jalan Duta Toll Plaza (northbound), the Sungai Besi Toll Plaza (southbound), and the Gombak Toll Plaza (East Coast bound) showed traffic is under control. There were no signs of an increase in traffic volume.

“The traffic flow at the KL-Karak Highway and East Coast Expressway 1 (LPT1) heading towards Kuantan is smooth so far, just like an ordinary day. Similarly, the number of vehicles passing through Bentong toll was normal,” an MHA spokesman told Bernama tonight.

The spokesman said the Jalan Duta Toll Plaza towards the north and the Sungai Besi Toll Plaza towards the south also recorded a smooth traffic flow, in addition to reporting the usual traffic volume.

The official Twitter account of PLUS Trafik said the traffic flow is moving smoothly and is only slow due to vehicle breakdowns.

Meanwhile, a Bernama survey conducted up to 10pm found the current traffic flow at the Gombak Toll Plaza towards the East Coast and the Jalan Duta Toll Plaza is smooth and under control.

The Election Commission hase set August 12 as voting day for the state election in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Terengganu, and Kelantan.
