PETALING JAYA, Sept 22 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI has allocated over RM500,000 to assist disaster victims in the state.

Its corporate social responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said this is part of a RM1 million allocation for affected individuals and groups this year.

“In the past two months or so, numerous storm disasters have occurred in Selangor, and MBI is always prepared to address any ongoing or potential disaster issues.

“At present, we have channelled over half a million ringgit from our CSR contributions, including roof replacements for homes or apartments and various other needs. Indeed, MBI is among the first agencies to provide such assistance,” he said.

Ahmad Azri was speaking during the donation presentation ceremony to storm victims at the Kota Damansara state constituency’s community service centre yesterday.

During the event, 21 traders from Section 8 of Kota Damansara each received RM250, while RM10,000 was given to Pangsapuri Gugusan Dahlia’s joint management body representative Baharudin Abd Hamid.

Kota Damansara state assemblyman Izuan Kasim handed over the donations.

MBI, a subsidiary company of the state government, is implementing various CSR activities this year, including distributing sacrificial animals, the mahabbah haji programme, and the people’s tuition programs.

It has also allocated RM2.8 million to assist flood victims and contributed to Tabung Ikhtiar Selangor Bangkit, in addition to spending RM28 million on welfare programs and Covid-19 initiatives.
