SAS kicks off tomorrow, targeting over 20,000 visitors

SHAH ALAM, Sept 6 — The third edition of the Selangor Air Show (SAS) will open tomorrow at the Skypark Regional Aviation Centre in Bukit Jelutong, featuring 117 domestic and international exhibitors

The three-day event, running until September 9, is themed The Only Aviation Show and Business in the Region, and is expected to attract over 20,000 visitors from various sectors.

Aiming for RM700 million in targeted transaction value this year, participating countries include the United States, France, Denmark, Singapore, Australia, and Hong Kong.

SAS will be inaugurated by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and will showcase 40 static aircraft of various types, including private and sports aircraft, and introduce new activities.

This edition has several new features, including drone air sports and a career carnival involving 20 aviation companies, where counselling sessions will be provided in addition to communication training.

First organised in 2021, SAS serves as the state government’s platform to promote the aerospace sector’s growth, as well as support local companies and small and medium-sized entrepreneurs exploring the field.

In March, former state executive councillor for investment Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said the state government is looking for up to RM2 billion in potential investments via SAS.

Last year’s event, held from September 8 to September 10, recorded RM1.174 billion in potential transaction value, while the inaugural SAS event in 2021 recorded RM100 million in transactions.
