KLANG, Sept 11 — The burden faced by Selangor National Sports Council (MSN) engineer Mohd Nur Farith Shakba, incapacitated by an accident in June, has been alleviated by support from the Social Security Organisation (Socso).

Selangor Socso director Ismail Abi Hashim said in addition to receiving a permanent disability compensation benefit totalling RM189,218.70, the 34-year-old is also eligible to receive a periodic permanent disability benefit of RM3,036, which will be paid monthly for the rest of his life.

“The recipient’s mother will also receive RM500 per month under the constant attendance allowance benefit, for taking care of Mohd Nur Farith at all times.

“He is eligible for these benefits because he contributed under the Social Security Act for Employees 1969 (Act 4). All benefit payments have been made, starting from September 1,” he told the press following his Ziarah Prihatin visit to Mohd Nur Farith’s residence, earlier today.

The benefit cheque was presented by the state executive councillor for sports Najwan Halimi to Mohd Nur Farith’s mother Saadiah Yahaya, 65, in Taman Cempaka Sari, Klang.

Also in attendance we Bandar Baru Klang state assemblyman Dr Quah Perng Fei and Selangor MSN director Mohamad Nizam Marjugi.

On her part, Saadiah expressed gratitude to Socso for handing over the contribution, which will be used to alleviate her son’s plight and go to his medical expenses.

“Socso’s assistance will reduce some of the burden on my family. It will be used for my son’s regular treatment at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, as well as preparations for rehabilitation treatment,” she said.

In the incident on June 17, Mohd Nur Farith was on his way home from work and was involved in an accident with a four-wheel drive.

He experienced severe injuries to his head and nerves, after colliding with a mattress carried by the vehicle, before the mattress fell on him.
