Two individuals burned in car crash confirmed to be married couple

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 7 — Two individuals who were burned in a road crash when their car burst into flames at Jalan Kuala Garing, Rawang, early today were confirmed a married couple.

Acting Gombak district police chief Supt Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir said the husband and wife, both locals, were aged 26 and 23.

He said the police received a report on the crash at 4.30am today.

“The result of the investigation found that the crash occurred when a Honda City car in which the couple was travelling from the direction of Bandar Country Homes towards Rawang went out of control.

“It then veered into the opposite direction and crashed into a lorry driven by a 25-year-old local man before both vehicles caught fire,” Noor Ariffin said in a statement today.

The lorry driver managed to free himself from the burning lorry and suffered no injuries.

“The couple was pronounced dead at the scene, and their bodies were taken to Selayang Hospital for an autopsy,” he said.

Noor Ariffin urged those with information on the incident to contact Traffic Investigation Officer Insp Mohamad Suhaimi Tukiman at 013-7557556 or the Gombak District Police Headquarters at 03-61262222.
