KUALA SELANGOR, Sept 10 — Universiti Selangor (Unisel) emphasises the unity of race, culture, and religion in providing the best education to its diverse body of students, said its chancellor Raja Tan Sri Arshad Alhaj Raja Tun Uda Alhaj.

He said the spirit of unity must be upheld at all times when one is interacting, so as to create a harmonious society.

“I am quite please to see this hall filled with graduates from the Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous communities of Sabah and Sarawak. There are also international students from Indonesia, Oman, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Somalia, China, and Kenya.

“As Unisel graduates and future alumni, you should become ambassadors of harmony, bringing pride to the university and to Selangor,” he said during Unisel’s 17th Convocation ceremony yesterday.

Arshad also urged the graduates to become alumni members so they can mentor students and contribute to academic development, research, and innovation, via Yayasan Universiti Selangor.

“Make Unisel a place of intellectual excellence which has served you well. Continue to strengthen your bonds with fellow alumni, which now number over 40,000,” he said.

Meanwhile, Anugerah Canselor recipient Siti Nazihah Zulkifli expressed her gratitude and was touched by the recognition given to her.

“This is the highest honour. My journey since 2018, from diploma to degree, has been an incredibly valuable and priceless experience.

“Choosing Unisel was the right decision as it helped shape my character and instilled good values in me. Unisel also taught me to maintain a positive attitude and prepared me to face the working world,” she said.
