SHAH ALAM, Oct 3 — The air quality across the country showed significant improvement this morning, with only five locations recording Air Pollution Index (API) readings of above 100 as at 9am.

In Selangor, Banting and Petaling Jaya are the two locations with unhealthy readings, at 119 and 109 respectively.

Shah Alam has a reading of 99, Klang a reading of 90, Johan Setia came in at 89, while Kuala Selangor’s  API reading was at 80, which are all moderate API levels.

The three locations nationwide with unhealthy readings are Cheras in Kuala Lumpur with a reading of 154, and Nilai with a reading of 156, while Seremban in Negeri Sembilan has  a reading of 142.

This morning’s readings are a marked improvement compared with yesterday, where 15 locations recorded unhealthy air quality, including five in Selangor.

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and 301 and above hazardous.
