KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 — The revival of the Ampang Lookout Point (Alop), closed for over a decade, is part of the state government’s effort to boost sustainable tourism ahead of Visit Selangor Year 2025.

State executive councillor for local government and tourism Ng Suee Lim said it is vital for all parties to show unwavering support for the redevelopment project, which is expected to be completed next year.

“We support projects promoting sustainable tourism, and now we are trying to promote Visit Selangor Year 2025.

“Next year is very important for us to promote efforts like this as part of our tourism push. We must fully support it,” he told the press at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre today.

Ng was speaking after witnessing the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and Pearl Holiday (M) Travel and Tour Sdn Bhd director Loo Kok Seong .

The state government has appointed Pearl Holiday (M) Travel as the the Alop project developer. The MoU ceremony was part of the four-day Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2023.

Ng hopes once the project is completed, it will become one of the Selangor’s main tourist attractions.

On his part, Loo guaranteed that all three phases of the redevelopment project would be accomplished ahead of Visit Selangor Year in 2025.

“We are very excited to revive Alop as part of our commitment to developing sustainable tourism.

“Our goal is to provide an unforgettable experience for visitors while prioritising the natural environment’s preservation. Alop will be a destination where visitors can value the beauty of nature and create unforgettable memories,” he said.

Various facilities will be provided, including motor homes (caravans), glamping (short for glamorous camping) and food stalls.

According to Pearl Holiday (M) Travel assistant project manager Loo Kar Yoon, Alop’s main tourist attraction will be the breathtaking 180-degree panoramic view of Kuala Lumpur.

The company targets 60 per cent of the total visitors at the popular venue as international tourists, with the remaining domestic visitors.

Alop’s redevelopment represents a significant transformation aimed at captivating domestic and international tourists, featuring distinctive eco-tourism attractions.

The initiative aligns with Malaysia’s commitment to fostering sustainable tourism and establishing the country as a prominent global tourist destination.
