HULU LANGAT, Oct 15 — Some 30 student leaders from various higher education institutions participated in an anti-corruption and community service programme at Impian Rimba Resort in Pangsun yesterday.

The Anti-Corruption Student Camp Programme (Amara) was organised in collaboration with Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB), the Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), and the Malaysian Anti-Drug Association (Pemadam).

PNSB chief executive officer Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar Raja Salim said this is the first a programme like this was organised with various agencies, which aims to cultivate a generation with high integrity and a strong sense of identity to become future leaders of the nation.

“Approximately 30 students have gathered since Friday (October 13) until tomorrow (October 15). They participated in the programme to spread an anti-corruption message and receive various other forms of education,” he said during the programme yesterday.

Meanwhile, Nurul Hikma Idrus, Amara president of the German Malaysian Institute (GMI), said she plans to organise seminars and courses to promote the anti-corruption message involving over 90 Amara members at GMI.

“I have benefitted much from the programme, which has developed my leadership qualities, so I want to share what I have learned here with other students,” she said.

Muhammad Alif Danieal Mohd Rafi, 20, the Amara president of the International Islamic University Malaysia, said he intends to use social media to highlight corruption’s adverse effects on the country.

“Social media is an effective platform for conducting anti-corruption campaigns among students. The student community should respond to this call to build a nation where its citizens have a strong sense of identity and good integrity,” he said.
