Malaysian exhibitors excel at Adipec 2023, securing RM450 mln in export sales

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 — Malaysian exhibitors made a strong presence with their products and services at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (Adipec) 2023 from October 2 to October 5, generating RM450 million in export sales.

Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz said this exceeded expectations, at 28.6 per cent higher than the targeted RM350 million.

“This significantly adds to Malaysia’s growing exports of oil and gas products to the region that saw almost a four-fold increase in 2022 to RM2.41 billion to the UAE as compared to the previous year,” he said in a statement today.

Malaysian companies offering digital technologies for offshore and onshore solutions have a significant advantage for business expansion opportunities in the region.

According to Matrade, the products and services of interest at Adipec 2023 included customised oil and gas equipment; manufacturing high-quality ovens for welding electrodes and flux drying applications; in-house fabrication; integrity management; risk assessment and management; and asset life extension studies.

“Other products such as software, health, safety, security and environmental (HSSE) systems, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project management, scaffolding works, engineering services, pipe inspection, integrity management and fabrication machining underscore Malaysia’s capabilities and expertise in the oil and gas industry,” it said.

To enhance the visibility and market access opportunities for Malaysian companies and their counterparts in the region, business meetings were also arranged with several prominent oil and gas companies in the Middle East region, including Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) and Saudi’s Nesma United Industries.

“Matrade also invited Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), the national oil company of Oman, to share insights into opportunities in Oman and their vendor registration process with Malaysian companies, aiming to facilitate market penetration efforts in the country,” it added.
