MB: Selangor aims for higher job creation with liveable income

By Yasmin Ramlan

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 — The state government is committed to ensuring its residents secure stable employment opportunities with decent and liveable income.

Commenting on the upcoming 2024 Selangor Budget, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari expressed optimism that the state government’s economic initiatives can generate high-income job opportunities.

“This is among our goals… we are trying to implement and find the best solution, not only job opportunities but also to offer employment with salaries that match the (rising) cost of living.

“We are a liveable state… And we have to be bold to challenge ourselves.

“We have to be the (exemplary) regional state and not only a local hero (jaguh tempatan),” he said to the press at Parliament after the tabling of the Federal Budget 2024 yesterday.

Among others, Amirudin said the state government will focus on the state’s First Selangor Plan (RS-1) five-year blueprint, the state’s digitalisation efforts, and restructuring some of the state government programmes, including Iltizam Selangor Penyayang (ISP) welfare initiatives, formerly known as Inisiatif Peduli Rakyat (IPR).

The 2024 Selangor Budget will be tabled during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly on November 10.
