BENTONG, Oct 7 — The Election Commission (EC) reported the voter turnout has reached 32 per cent as of 11am for the Pelangai state by-election
Nine polling centres with 30 channels opened at 8am today to allow the 16,383 registered voters to exercise their rights.
There are 16,456 eligible voters in the state seat by-election, including 73 postal ballots issued for 36 police personnel and three overseas absentee voters.
Yesterday, EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh said the turnout is expected to reach 75 per cent today, and the official result will be known by 9pm.
The Pelangai by-election sees a three-cornered fight between Barisan Nasional’s Datuk Amizar Abu Adam, Kasim Samat of Perikatan Nasional and Independent candidate Haslihelmy DM Zulhasni.
