Rumpun Selangor initiative to strengthen national unity to start in December

SHAH ALAM, Oct 24 — Rumpun Selangor’s idea to strengthen the spirit of national unity and community system in the state will be officially launched at the end of this year.

State executive councillor for rural development and unity Datuk Rizam Ismail said the implementation covered six main agendas, namely carnival, policies and unity songs, as well as the structuring and empowerment of village leadership institutions.

He added that the branding of children’s educational institutions, especially Tabika Perpaduan and Tadika Kemas, was also included in addition to promotion and advocacy programs for the people.

 “His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor and the Raja Muda of Selangor will also be at the carnival and participate in the village tour,” said Rizam.

He said Rumpun Selangor was chosen for its solid focus, strong work ethics and uniqueness, as host to diverse ethnic cultures.

Meanwhile, Rizam also said that the Kita Rewang Sekampung programme. which has been held since the beginning of this year has been rebranded as the Rumpun Selangor D’Desa programme.

He said the pilot programme at the Selangor Unity Carnival was organised last Saturday in Kuala Selangor and is set to move to Petaling, Sepang, Hulu Langat and Hulu Selangor next.

“Various activities have been planned for visitors including folk games like tug-of-war, Selangor wau and kabbadi,”
