KUALA SELANGOR, Oct 14 — The Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre (STDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with professional technical training company SRC Global Sdn Bhd.

Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI’s chief operating officer Saipolyazan M Yusop said the collaboration aims to produce more optical fibre cable installation technicians in Malaysia.

“As such, we aim to train over 900 engineers in this field in the coming future, to support the national telecommunications industry.

InsyaAllah, we believe many are eager to take STDC’s courses, as Telekom Malaysia Bhd recognises the institution. This recognition qualifies trainees in the optical fibre cable installation field to take exams for the relevant courses,” he said.

Saipolyazan was speaking to the press after the signing ceremony at the centre in Kuala Selangor yesterday.

The MoU was signed by STDC’s certified centre manager Norzilawati Md Said and SRC Global’s chief executive officer, Datuk Nor Hisham Mohd Arifin.

Saipolyazan said the collaboration is not limited to the optical fibre cables but will continue to train students in solar energy in the future.

“With the training received by participants, they have the opportunity to secure jobs paying at least RM1,800 per month, depending on their skill level and certification,” he said.
