SHAH ALAM, Oct 31 – Two childcare centres operating in Selangor are dedicated to reducing the burden on parents of special needs children by providing tailored education and intervention.

State executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari said these nurseries – Taska OKU Little Leaders Child Care Centre (LLCC) in Shah Alam and Taska OKU IstikaJaya in Puchong – adopt an inclusive and compassionate approach to help children reach their maximum potential.

She added that the nurseries had received grants from the Federal government amounting to RM374,520.

“We are launching the OKU nursery and raising awareness about its presence to facilitate access to appropriate education for parents or guardians of children with disabilities.

“Besides that, the state government is also encouraging the establishment of nurseries for disabled children from both government agencies and the private sector, especially in Selangor,” he said while officiating the Taska Oku LLCC, here, today.

Also present was Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Aiman Athirah Sabu.

Anfaal said LLCC, which was established in 2021, is the first registered nursery dedicated for disabled children in Selangor and currently has 21 staff members, seven nannies and three rehabilitators.

She added that the nursery has formed strategic partnerships with several agencies and has garnered support from various sources, including the Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI.

“MBI has significantly contributed by subsidising the nursery rentals and offering incentives to staff, as part of the Anak Istimewa Selangor (Anis) initiative, since 2019,” she said.
