SHAH ALAM, Nov 8 – Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has reiterated his commitment to upholding integrity as a foundational element in his governance, emphasising its importance in advancing the state’s economy and fostering a just society.

Underlining the detrimental impact of corruption, Amirudin pointed out that such malpractices could have far-reaching consequences beyond financial losses, potentially endangering lives when ethical standards are compromised.

Speaking at the launch of the Organisational Anti-Corruption Plan (OACP) for Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, and its subsidiaries, Amirudin stressed the importance of understanding corruption from various perspectives.

He also drew attention to the recent spate of building roof collapses in the country, which he suggested could have been caused by corrupt practices.

“Corruption affects us on many levels, it’s not just a matter of financial prudence or loss prevention. It has religious and moral dimensions, and it impacts lives, community cohesion, and the public’s trust in institutions and governance.

“The string of roof collapse cases, including in Parliament and at stadiums, signify dangers that transcend monetary losses. These incidents affect the very lives of people.

“This is precisely why fostering a culture of integrity is vital,” said in his speech today.

Meanwhile, Amirudin praised MBI for taking a proactive approach in combating corruption through the OACP, recognising the significance of such an initiative.

“This comprehensive anti-corruption plan set forth by MBI is the first of its kind to be implemented across a state government-linked company in Malaysia,” he said.
