SHAH ALAM, Nov 30 — The Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) has temporarily closed the Bukit Lagong waterfall recreational area to the public to enhance its safety.

It said this measure was taken following several drowning incidents which occurred previously, with the most recent one on August 27.

“MPS is currently in the process of installing ropes around the waterfall and large river stones to prevent whirlpools,” said the council when contacted.

Maintenance contractors conduct periodic monitoring to ensure no swimming activities occur during the area’s closure.

“So far, visitors are swimming in safe areas and not in locations marked with yellow ropes,” MPS said.
