SHAH ALAM, Nov 24 — The Selangor government is planning to host the Semicon Southeast Asia (SEA) 2024 event, which will take place from May 28 to May 30 next year, focusing on the microelectronics and photovoltaic industries’ manufacturing supply chain.

State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said the state’s investment arm, Invest Selangor Bhd, will take part in organising the 29th edition of the regional event, which will be held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec).

“The exhibition has the potential to globally enhance Selangor’s prominence in the manufacturing sector, particularly in the microelectronics and photovoltaic industry,” he told the Selangor State Legislative Assembly session today.

Ng was responding to a query by Lembah Jaya stater assemblyman Syed Ahmad Abdul Rahman Alhadad on the state government’s efforts to boost Selangor’s science, technology, and innovation sector.

He added that some of the state administration’s initiatives include the Selangor R&D and Innovation Expo (SRIE), which is also one of the components of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS).

Last year, the Semicon SEA 2023 was held in Penang and saw the participation of over 570 booths representing over 17 countries.
