Exco: State to monitor flood situation, make sure residents are safe

SHAH ALAM, November 5 The State Government through its Disaster Management Unit will continue to monitor the flood situation in Kampung Bangi Lama, Hulu Langat to ensure that residents are safe.

State executive councillor for disaster management Najwan Halimi said so far, a total of 61 victims from 14 families have been affected and have been moved to temporary evacuation centres.

“Following the flood incident in Kampung Bangi Lama, a temporary evacuation centre was opened at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bangi which housed 14 families involving 61 affected victims.

“No casualties were reported. The State Government through the Disaster Management Unit will continue to monitor and ensure the surrounding residents are safe,” he said on X.

Earlier today, about 200 residents in Taman Semenyih Indah and Kampung Bangi Lama were reported to have been evacuated to a temporary evacuation centre following a flooding incident, this morning.

A spokesman for the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department in Selangor said the operation to move the victims began at 4.30am after receiving an emergency call.
