Mais donates RM200,000 to Palestinian aid fund

SHAH ALAM, Nov 25 — The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) has contributed RM200,000 to the Islamic Development Department’s (Jakim) Palestinian Musa’adah fund.

Its chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohf Yusof said the humanitarian aid was handed over to Jakim director Datuk Hakimah Mohd Yusof, the fund’s coordinator.

“The contribution is also a sign of Mais’ support for the pure and humanitarian efforts to assist the suffering Palestinian people.

“Mais calls upon, and especially reminds Selangor Muslims to continue supporting their coreligionists in Palestine and ensure that contributions are extended to the responsible parties,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Earlier on, the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, graciously presented RM4.374 million in humanitarian aid to the during a ceremony at Istana Bukit Kayangan yesterday.

Also in attendance at the event were Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah and Selangor Islamic Religious Department director Datuk Shahzihan Ahmad.
