GOMBAK, Nov 18 —Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari officiated the Madani Community Service (Khidmat Komuniti Madani) programme, organised by Kawasan Rukun Tetangga Sahabat, Sepakat, Berlian (KRT SSB) in Padang, Taman Berlian, today.

He described the programme, in collaboration with Universiti Kuala Lumpur, as a commendable initiative to further strengthen community unity.

“All are aware that Malaysia has undergone two crucial elections in choosing its leadership, and some are happy or sad depending on the outcomes. However, this is a common situation faced in determining leadership.

“The unity that exists after the elections must be maintained and should not be divided based on individual desires,” he said during his speech at the event.

Also in attendance were Selayang Municipal Council President Datuk Mohd Yazid Sairi and KRT SSB leaders.

During the event, Amirudin, who is also the Gombak MP, announced a special allocation to repair the roof of the existing hall now used as KRT SSB’s office, and the construction of a semi-open hall.

“Within two weeks, we will complete the hall’s roof. It will remain the KRT office since it is no longer suitable to be a hall.

“However, we will build a semi-open hall on this site for community programmes, including youth activities,” he said.

Amirudin also handed over Gombak Parliamentary constituency disaster relief assistance to 64 flood victims from Kampung Changkat, Sungai Cincin, and Kampung Gombak Utara.

One recipient, Haryati Abd Ghapar, 48, thanked the state government for its concern in easing their burden.

“This contribution may not be much and is only enough to buy or replace household items damaged by the floodwaters. However, it does help alleviate the family’s burden, like buying kitchen necessities.

“I hope the flood issue can be resolved soon, and attention is given to cleaning the drains to allow water to flow into the river,” she said.
