No private lands affected by Idriss development — Exco

SHAH ALAM, Nov 16 – The extensive Integrated Development Region In South Selangor (Idriss) project will not impact individually owned private lands, said state executive councillor for investment Ng Sze Han.

Ng explained that the project, which is a significant component of the state’s economic development strategy for the Sepang and Kuala Langat districts, will only focus on lands already earmarked for development that are owned by developers.

He said under the current development plan, there is no need for any land acquisition process or the exercise of eminent domain.

This means the state will not be required to pay compensation to private landowners.

“All the major development projects will be done on the developer’s land and no privately owned lands are involved. So, no compensation process is involved in the Idriss development,” he said in the State Legislative Assembly today.

He was responding to a question from Dengkil assemblyman Datuk Seri Jamil Salleh, who wanted to know if the state government will provide fair compensation to private land or property owners which could be affected by the development of Idriss.

According to Ng, Idriss has the potential to significantly benefit the local community in southern Selangor, including through the creation of high quality job opportunities, thereby boosting economic activities in the region.

Additionally, he foresees an increase in the value of properties in the surrounding areas as a direct result of this development.

Idriss comprises various projects that range from logistics services, warehousing, ports and commerce, to housing, tourism, and education.

Among the key projects are the Selangor Business Capital, Selangor International Aero Park, Sepang Gold Coast Global Village, Unisel Global Campus, NCT Smart Industrial Park, Pulau Carey port and the Pulau Carey Special Economic Zone.
