Selangor implements pilot programme to streamline daycare operations — Exco

SHAH ALAM, Nov 17 — The state government is ready to initiate a pilot programme to streamline legislation related to daycare operations.

State executive councillor for women development and social welfare Anfaal Saari said this aims to facilitate the application processes and encourage the daycare operators to register, especially those operating from home.

“The issue of daycare registration must be handled carefully, as currently, the registration requirements between the local authorities and the ministry (of Women, Family and Community Development) are inconsistent.

“It involves the enforcement of the Child Care Centre Act 1984, the Child Care Center Regulations 2012, and local laws at the local authority level,” she said.

Anfaal was speaking at the wind-up session of the 2024 Selangor Budget during the State Legislative Assembly session today.

She added the state government held two engagement sessions on March 6 and May 2 with all parties involved to discuss the issues and find appropriate solutions.

Elaborating, Anfaal said the Care Economy Policy aims to improve the quality of childcare services and is expected to be launched in the second quarter of next year.
