Sivasangari wins Open title in Hong Kong

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 25 — National squash queen S. Sivasangari won The Hong Kong Football Club Open today for her second title this year.

The world number 22nd player needed just 34 minutes to beat Egypt’s Amina Orfi, the junior world champion in 2022 and 2023, 11 – 9, 11 – 8, 11 – 5 in the women’s final.

Sivasangari had won the Tunku Mukhriz Cup championship in August.

“Throughout the whole week, I am a little bit nervous at the first round. I do not feel good but each day I have played better and better, and brought good progress.

“I am really happy, especially getting to beat a very talented player (Amina),” the Kedahan said in an audio clip shared by the Professional Squash Association on X.

Meanwhile, fellow national player Ng Eain Yow fell to Egypt’s Aly Abou Eleinen in the men’s final.

Ng, the world number 21, lost 6 – 11, 11 – 5, 7 – 11, 7 – 11.
