Darul Ehsan Berselawat programme to tour nine districts next year

SHAH ALAM, Dec 5 — The Darul Ehsan Berselawat programme organised by the Selangor Women’s Welfare and Charity Organization (Pekawanis) will continue next year by touring nine districts.

Its president Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad said the expansion of the programme, which is expected to start in March, is aimed at encouraging the practice of zikr and salawat among Muslims.

“The Pekawanis programme is organised in collaboration with the Chief Minister’s Office. We don’t want to organise it only in Shah Alam, it would be better if this prayer programme was organised in the districts.

“There are also religious schools and Malay qasidahs in other districts, especially in Sabak Bernam and Kuala Selangor. This is the time for us to meet them in addition to wanting to raise Malay qasidahs that are easier to understand and appreciate,” he said after attending the Ask Anything session at the Selangor International Book Fair (SIBF) 2023 at the Shah Alam City Council Convention Centre here, today.

The Darul Ehsan Berselawat programme was organised for the first time on January 14,  2023 at the Shah Alam Stadium grounds and was attended by more than 10,000 Muslims.

Following the response of the Muslim community, the programme was organised for a second time on July 30 at the Malawati Indoor Stadium in Shah Alam.

In another development, Masdiana said a total of RM287,000 was allocated to 1,230 recipients in the 41 State Assemblies in conjunction with the recent Deepavali celebrations.

“Each recipient will get a donation of RM200 to ease their burden to celebrate Deepavali. We also have similar donations for Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Chinese New Year.

“In addition, donations were also distributed as part of a back-to-school programme and to reach out to students who are about to sit for exams,” he said.
