KLANG, Dec 13 – Melaka Historic City Council mayor Datuk Shadan Othman has commended local authorities in Selangor for their proficient management and development planning.

In his visit to Bandar Bukit Raja here yesterday, Shadan expressed admiration for Selangor’s comprehensive approach to development, highlighting their exemplary port management and housing development strategies.

“Selangor not only has the best port management, but its approach to development management is highly commendable and worth emulating,” he said during a tree planting programme at Dragonfly Park, Bandar Bukit Raja as part of the Visit Melaka Year 2024 convoy.

“Take today for example, we are here at the new Bandar Bukit Raja housing area, which is a regular housing development and not a stratified property, yet it has security guards. This is something that impressed me.”

Shadan was accompanied by Klang Municipal Council president Datin Paduka Noraini Roslan.

The Melaka Historic City Council mayor also expressed keen interest in Selangor’s implementation of development charges.

“God willing, we will visit local councils in Selangor again to understand the intricacies of implementing such charges. It is one of our aspirations to share best practices among local councils,” he said.

Development charges are fees imposed by the local authorities under Section 32 of the Town And Country Planning Act 1976 on landowners as a result of an increase in land value following a local plan that changes the use, density or floor area of any land.
