SHAH ALAM, Dec 25 — The first phase of sheet piling works at the landslide area in Taman Wawasan, Puchong has achieved 80 per cent completion as of yesterday.

Subang Jaya Mayor Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim said in all, 375 piles have been installed, with primary focus on the area in front of the affected houses, as well as the drains there.

“Phase one is focused on strengthening the soil at the housing area, while phase two involves the temporary water diversion at the damaged drains.

“Once we complete phase one, we will commence the second phase by installing 400 piles on the left and right side of the drains,” he said when contacted.

Previously, Fauzi had said that the sheet piling works are being done according to schedule to stabilise the soil to avoid further land movements.

He said this is an immediate and urgent action to prevent subsequent landslides, before beginning works to restore the collapsed slope.

On December 16, 29 residents from nine terrace houses were ordered to evacuate for safety reasons following a landslide near their homes.

The landslide, which occurred along Jalan Wawasan 3/9 and Jalan 3/14 in Taman Wawasan around 7.30pm, resulted in four buried vehicles, although no casualties were reported.
