SHAH ALAM, Dec 3 — Selangor FC will not take their foot off the pedal despite finishing an impressive second in the Malaysia Super League, effectively booking their place in next season’s Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup.
This was the commitment given by Football Association of Selangor (FAS) president, Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah, who described this season’s league campaign as a new beginning for The Red Giants.
His Highness also expressed his delight and pride in Selangor FC’s players, coaching team and management who worked tirelessly to ensure they perform admirably.
“This success will not halt our efforts, as Selangor FC still need to work hard. Strong character is needed to ensure our progress does not stop here and that we continue to move forward.”
“This is a new beginning for Selangor FC, although I acknowledge the challenges that await us after securing our spot in Asia next year,” he said in a post uploaded on Selangor Royal Office’s Facebook page today.
Tengku Amir Shah also thanked supporters who have been loyal in giving their support to the club, and hoped Selangor FC will achieve more success in the future.
His Highness was present at the Darul Aman Stadium in Kedah last night to witness Selangor FC’s 1-0 victory against Kedah Darul Aman (KDA) FC, which confirmed their second place finish in the Super League.
Ayron Del Valle Rodriguez scored the solitary goal for The Red Giants, assisted by Brendan Gan.
With the result, Selangor FC now sit second in the Super League behind Johor Darul Ta’zim FC with one game to spare. Their five-point gap over KDA FC means their position is secured, however the results play out in the final round of games.
