Northern Selangor remains a popular tourist choice

SHAH ALAM, Dec 27 — Northern Selangor continues to be a popular tourism destination for both locals and foreigners alike, said Tourism Selangor’s corporate communications manager Ahmad Nazri Tashriq Rahmat.

The region, known for its rural and rustic charms, has welcomed many visitors this year.

Among the destinations of choice include Kuala Kubu Bharu in Hulu Selangor, Sungai Panjang and Sekinchan in Sabak Bernam, and Bukit Malawati in Kuala Selangor, all of which represent the state’s rich diversity in tourist offerings.

The three districts make up the northernmost tip of the state.

“The surge in tourism in these locations is attributed to various factors, including the appeal of theme parks, gastronomic delights, ecotourism, and extreme sports.

“Notably, many of these tourist hubs are also accessible via public transport, including rail lines or the Smart Selangor Bus services,” he said when contacted.

Another key attraction in Selangor is the SplashMania Waterpark located in Gamuda Cove, Kuala Langat.

Nazri said since its opening earlier this year, SplashMania has attracted a significant crowd, particularly during weekends and school holidays, drawing in about 75,000 visitors monthly.

The vigorous promotion done by Tourism Selangor via various campaigns throughout the year is expected to continue attracting visitors, both domestic and international.

On December 20, state executive councillor for tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim said the ‘Splendid Selangor, Take Me Anywhere!’ global tourism campaign will be expanded to more countries.

This aims to attract more international tourists and aligns with the Visit Selangor Year 2025. The campaign promotes Selangor in countries like China, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, India, Laos, and Germany.
