Number of flood evacuees drop in Selangor, three other states tonight

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 18 — The number of evacuees in four flood-affected states dropped tonight, with only 15 people from five families at a temporary relief centre (PPS) in Selangor.

The flood victims are housed at SK Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah in Kuala Selangor, the last open PPS in the state, following the closure of two PPS: Sekolah Rendah Agama (SRA) Padang Jawa in Klang and SK Parit Mahang in Kuala Selangor today.

Meanwhile, flood-hit areas in Terengganu have since returned to near-normal conditions.

A total of 158 people from 16 families still remain at PPS in three districts — 114 people from six families in Marang, 42 people from nine families in Dungun, and two people from one family in Setiu — as of 8pm tonight.

In Kelantan, evacuees dropped to 5,164 people from 1,621 families as of 8pm compared to 5,327 people from 1,688 families this morning.

All the flood victims are housed in 15 PPS — SK Gual Tinggi, SK Sri Rantau Panjang (2), SK Gual To’Deh, SK Gual Sitok, Masjid Lubok Gong, Masjid Baitul Rahman, SMK Gual Periok, SMK Baroh Pial, SK Kedai Tanjong, SK Gual Periok, Madrasah Tasek Bakong, Masjid Mukim Padang Licin, SK Sri Kiambang, SMA (Agama) Pohon Buluh, and SK Lati — in the Pasir Mas district.

In Perak, 65 people from 18 families are being housed in the Padang Tembak Multipurpose Hall in Teluk Intan, from 89 people from 26 families this morning.

The water level at Sungai Bidor, Changkat Jong, also dropped to the alert level of 3.28 metres from the danger level of 3.51 metres.
