SHAH ALAM, Dec 18 — The installation of iron piles at the landslide site in Jalan Wawasan, Puchong, will continue today to prevent further soil erosion.
According to Petaling District officer Rahilah Rahmat, 46 iron piles were installed as of 3.30pm yesterday.
“The installation of iron piles will proceed today.
“The Mineral and Geoscience Department (JMG) and the Public Works Department (PWD) (Slope and Forensics) will continue their inspection at the site,” she said in a brief statement today.
Yesterday, it was reported that 375 iron piles will be installed within 150 square meters of the ruins to prevent soil movement and stabilise the slope. The installation works are expected to be completed in approximately two weeks.
In a recent update, Rahilah said a Honda City car model was successfully retrieved from the landslide incident at 6pm yesterday.
The temporary relief centre (PPS) was closed at 9pm last night as most of the victims had evacuated to the homes of their relatives.
The landslide, which occurred at Jalan Wawasan 3/9 and Jalan Wawasan 3/14 at about 7.30pm on Friday (December 16), also caused four vehicles to be buried, but no casualties were reported.
It was reported the occupants of nine terraced houses in Taman Wawasan Puchong were ordered to evacuate following a landslide near their homes.
