PUCHONG, Dec 22 — Piling works to stabilise the soil at the landslide area in Taman Wawasan are now 40.26 per cent complete as of yesterday, according to Subang Jaya Mayor Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim.

The works are being carried out according to the scheduled plan to ensure no soil movement and to prevent further landslides.

“This is an immediate and urgent action to prevent subsequent landslides. Once the preliminary work is completed, which is expected by Sunday (December 24), we will begin work to restore the collapsed slope.

“The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has also successfully removed four cars buried in the landslide from the site,” he said during a press conference after chairing the council’s full monthly meeting today.

MBSJ is awaiting a report from the Mineral and Geoscience Department to determine the cause of the landslide, and further actions will be planned based on the findings.

“After receiving the report, we will decide how to ensure such an incident does not recur. Moving forward, there are three main tasks: repairing the slope, reconnecting the road in front of the affected houses, and fixing the monsoon drain,” Fauzi added.

Affected homeowners are not yet allowed to return to their houses and instead are currently staying with relatives or friends.

“(Permission to return) will be announced by the Petaling District Disaster Management Committee’s chairman, who is also the District Officer,” he said.

On Saturday (December 16), 29 residents from nine terrace houses were ordered to evacuate for safety reasons following a landslide near their homes.

The landslide, which occurred along Jalan Wawasan 3/9 and Jalan 3/14 in Taman Wawasan at around 7.30pm, resulted in four buried vehicles, although no casualties were reported.
