Taman Sentosa to attain city status by mid-next year

SHAH ALAM, Dec 12 — Taman Sentosa, Klang, home to over 30,000 residents, anticipates attaining city status by mid-next year.

Sentosa state assemblyman Dr G Gunaraj said the discussion process with the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) is ongoing to materialise the plan.

Guidelines for facilities, including commercial centres, banks, and hospitals, will also involve relevant parties.

“Perhaps after the MPK’s city declaration (Taman Sentosa’s status might transition to city status), given the ongoing preparations by the local authority.

“If they prioritise this issue on their agenda, including seeking input from all departments, a city upgrade status could be achieved within six months. I will give the time and space as it needs careful consideration rather than a rushed process,” he told SelangorKini

In the meantime, Gunaraj believes the community’s mindset will shift once Taman Sentosa, encompassing 25 residential areas, attains that status.

He also expects a surge in property values in the area, which will simultaneously improve infrastructure, ensuring residents no longer face issues like flooding.

“Taman Sentosa has undergone significant transformations in the past five years due to the community’s efforts. That is why we want to achieve this goal.

“I encourage residents to actively contribute to maintaining the cleanliness and greenery of Taman Sentosa once it attains city status,” Gunaraj added.

Taman Sentosa is one of the areas under the Sentosa state constituency with the largest population compared to Bandar Botanic, Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Bandar Putera, and Bandar Puteri.
