SHAH ALAM, Dec 2 — The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) garnered three awards from the Malaysian Institute of Planners (MIP) during the MyPlace Award 2023 ceremony in Petaling Jaya yesterday night.
The council said it was honoured with the Anugerah Nilam in the Back Lane and Road Shoulder category via its Sustainable Ampang Lane project.
“In addition, MPAJ also received the Anugerah Nilam in the Urban Farming category for its community education garden project (Ceria Indah Community Garden).
“The council also received special recognition as the winner in the Urban Farming category through the MPAJ recycling community garden project (Cemara Community Garden),” it said in a Facebook post.
The awards were presented by MIP President Datin Noraida Saludin and accepted by MPAJ President Ani Ahmad and MPAJ Secretary Julaihah Jamaludin.
The MyPlace Awards aims to recognise the excellence of its recipients in improving public areas that positively impact the community.
In 2020, MPAJ initiated a project to beautify the back areas of shop houses in Ampang Point for the Sustainable Ampang Lane project. The 300-metre-long lane project has now become a new attraction in the area.
