Cops bust two drug trafficking syndicates, four arrested

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19 — The police have busted two Klang Valley drug trafficking syndicates and arrested four individuals, including a woman, in two separate raids here and in Selangor.

Wangsa Maju Police Chief Supt Ashari Abu Samah said that on Wednesday (January 17), the police conducted simultaneous raids on areas around Jalan Kampung Pandan as well as a condominium in Kajang, Selangor, and arrested two men and a woman.

“In the raids, police seized about 25.054 kg of ganja and 48.09 g of heroin,” he said in a statement today.

The Wangsa Maju Narcotics Crime Investigation Division launched a second raid in the Setapak area yesterday, where they arrested a man and seized 2.039 kg of ganja.

“All the suspects are aged between 23 and 47, with one of them testing positive for ganja.

“Police also seized some of the syndicates’ assets, including two cars, six bracelets, four necklaces, eight rings, and 15 earrings. The total value of the drugs and assets seized is RM195,630,” Ashari said.

The syndicates had been active for the past six months around the Klang Valley, and the police are still investigating the source of the drug supply.

“The overall drug seized could be used by 27,141 addicts, and the suspects have been remanded for seven days until January 24. They will be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.
