SHAH ALAM, Jan 27 — Approximately 83.8 per cent of the RM200,000 allocated by the state government for the Kita Selangor book e-vouchers has been redeemed to date, according to Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI.
Its corporate social responsibility and corporate communications head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said of the figure, RM166,360 in voucher value has been spent since the initiative was launched last November.
“Based on our records, 949 e-voucher transactions have been successful, while 542 have yet to make successful purchases.
“Among the reasons for the failed transactions include waiting for approval from publishers and voucher recipients not finalising their orders,” he said when contacted yesterday.
Azri urged qualified students to immediately redeem their e-vouchers before the January 31 deadline.
University students who are qualified for the benefit can redeem their vouchers and make purchases through mall.bookcapital.com.my, which is handled by the Perbadanan Kota Buku, an agency under the Education Ministry.
The initiative was launched by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari on November 6, 2023, benefitting 1,000 students with an overall allocation of RM200,000.
