Kota Anggerik State Assembly spends RM13,000 ahead of Pongal festivities tomorrow

SHAH ALAM, Jan14 — The Kota Anggerik State Assembly (DUN) spent RM13,000 to add cheer to the upcoming Pongal Festival which will be celebrated by the Indian community.

Kota Anggerik state assemblyman Najwan Halimi said 200 families in the area received aid in the form of clay pots and basic food items.

“This donation is for those who will be celebrating Ponggal from tomorrow.

“Hopefully the donations will both benefit and bring them joy,” he said.

 Pongal is a harvest festival that is widely celebrated by ethnic Tamils and aims to give farmers and livestock time to rest and recover.
