MBI donates RM12,000 to six fire victims

HULU LANGAT, Jan 9 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI provided RM12,000 in cash assistance to six victims of a fire in Taman Bukit Mewah and Kampung Sungai Sekamat, Kajang, today.

Its social responsibility and corporate communication head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said RM2,000 in aid was given to each family as a gesture of concern following their misfortune between November and December last year.

“The state government via MBI is always ready to assist victims who have endured disasters. InsyaAllah, we will do our best to ease the burden of those affected.

“MBI has allocated RM1 million in total throughout 2024 to aid disaster victims of fires, floods, storms, and landslides,” he said.

Ahmad Azri was speaking at the contribution presentation ceremony held at the Kajang state constituency community service centre and presided over by its state assemblyman David Cheong.

On his part, Cheong thanked MBI for the cash donation and hoped it would alleviate the fire victims’ needs.

“In addition to MBI’s assistance, the Kajang community service centre also provided RM500 in initial aid the victims.

“We also requested assistance from the Social Welfare Department, as there are elderly victims among the residents,” he said.
