SHAH ALAM, Jan 26 — More than 300,000 individuals in Selangor have registered and updated information in the Main Database System (Padu) as of January24 this year.

That number is the highest followed by Sarawak about 220,00 individuals and Johor about 170,000 individuals.

Selangor Statistics Department director Hartini Yaacob said his officers went into the field and opened counters in selected locations, especially in rural areas to make it easier for people to register.

“This counter is opened in rotation in various locations to help those in need as well as to give exposure to the community about the importance of this system,” he told Selangorkini.

Commenting further, Hartini said that with the Padu system, the government can ensure policy planning and the distribution of resources is done in a better, more orderly manner, especially the distribution of subsidies and aid.

“For the able-bodied, the T20 group, your information will help the government identify appropriate policies.

“It includes a reduction in the tax rate imposed according to the level of taxable income and any facilities and emergency assistance in the event of a disaster,” he said.

From January 22 to 28, the Selangor Statistics Department opened 62 counters covering nine districts,

The districts are Hulu Langat which has 15 counters and Sepang which has nine counters, while Petaling, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Selangor and Gombak have six counters each, Sabak Bernam has four and Klang and Kuala Langat have five counters each.

The public can visit DOSM Selangor’s Facebook page for the most up to date list of counter locations.

The Padu system launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on January 2,  2024 contains population profiles to help the government implement targeted policies.

Registration and information updates can be made between January 2 and March 31 through the following link https://www.padu.gov.my.
