SHAH ALAM, Jan 23 — The Projek Selangor Penyayang (PSP) initiative has provided RM400,000 to construct a community complex in Kampung Sungai Bakau, adjacent to Bandar Country Homes, Rawang.

Rawang state assemblyman Chua Wei Kiat said the project, which was initiated in June last year, is on track for completion next month and will benefit over 1,000 residents in the vicinity.

“(It was proposed) in response to complaints from local residents regarding the absence of a public hall in this area. The project was later approved in June last year before construction began.

“Currently, it is 90 per cent complete, and the complex is set to open to the public next month. I encourage residents to make optimal use of this public facility, and I also want to discourage any form of vandalism,” he said when contacted.

In addition to hosting various events, the community complex will offer sports facilities like badminton and basketball courts.

The 2024 Selangor Budget earmarked RM24 million to enhance the quality of existing public facilities and construct new infrastructure, primarily focusing on low- and medium-cost apartments aged over 15 years.
