Selangor to prioritise project execution, welfare programme awareness in 2024 — MB

By Fitri Hazim Hazam

GOMBAK, Jan 1 — The state government is committed and focused on implementing all planned projects to drive its economic growth this year, according to Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Gombak MB said emphasis will also be given to educate and inform the public about its welfare programmes to ensure wider accessibility and uptake among residents, as the state ushers in the New Year today.

“I would like to see the execution of several plans that have been laid out in the past few years, including initiating the redevelopment of the Shah Alam Stadium,” he said in a public engagement event at Pasar Baru Selayang, here, today.

“I’m also focused on implementing economic enhancement programmes such as the Sabak Bernam Development Area (Sabda) and Integrated Development Region in Southern Selangor (Idriss).

“The state government will also increase the dissemination of information and understanding among the public regarding the welfare programmes we provide, to ensure that the people receive as many benefits as possible.”

In a statement earlier today, Amirudin applauded the state administration’s success in collecting RM2.7 billion in revenue this year, surpassing its initial target of RM2 billion for 2023.

This achievement was largely credited to the economic momentum generated by the First Selangor Plan, which included projects like Sabda, Idriss, Selangor Maritime Gateway (SMG), and development of the Pulau Carey port.

During his visit to the Selayang market today, Amirudin, who is also Sungai Tua assemblymen, distributed 2024 calendars to his constituents while spending time to hear their grievances and feedback.

“My usual routine every holiday season at the start of the year is to meet residents in focal areas like the Pasar Baru Selayang, as well as to observe the condition of the surrounding infrastructure and ensure they are in good shape.

“Today’s programme received tremendous response from the residents, a result of the close relationship I have built with them since becoming a representative about 15 years ago,” he said.

Amirudin added that the people of Selangor have benefited greatly from social welfare programmes under the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang initiative, including through the organisation of the Jelajah Ehsan Rahmah affordable sales events.
