Selangor tourist bus in Sepang draws crowds, eyes expansion

SEPANG, Jan 17 — The state’s Hop-On Hop-Off (Hoho) tour bus has attracted about 1,500 visitors since its launch in June, with plans to expand the service to other districts.

The open air, double-decker bus service, which was introduced by Tourism Selangor, currently only serves Sepang, operating on weekends in 10 destinations around the district.

Tourism Selangor Promosi Sdn Bhd business development and marketing manager Cheong Ei Leen said the state’s tourism promotion agency intends to increase the number of buses, although this will depend on backing from investors.

“Our target market includes international tourists in transit in Malaysia, who may want to fill up their time by sightseeing nearby locations.

“Various efforts are being taken to continue promoting Hoho, including through social media, and collaborations with influencers, media and other stakeholders,” he said during a media familiarisation trip in Sepang yesterday.

Cheong said Tourism Selangor has also agreed to extend the promotion for adult tickets, which was first implemented in December, in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year celebration and school holidays.

Under the promotional rate, adults will be charged RM25 for a one-day tour, instead of RM35, similar to children, senior citizens and university students. Tickets for foreigners remain at RM55 (RM45 for foreign students).

“This promotion will take place until a date to be announced in the future. We urge those who are interested to take advantage of this promotion,” she said.

The Hoho tourist bus service targets the domestic tourism market and provides international tourists at KLIA and KLIA2 the option to travel in the surrounding areas during their long transit before proceeding to the next flight.

It is operated by LNH Tour and Transport Sdn Bhd, with visits to several locations like Farm Fresh@UPM Serdang, Avani Goldcoast Resort and Spa Sepang, Sirip Biru jetty, Sepang International Circuit, HL Dragon Fruit Eco Farm, Mitsui Outlet Park and IOI City Mall (Symphony 3).

The public can purchase tickets www.hohoselangor.com or www.selangor.travel, Go Selangor’s mobile application, and directly from the departure stations.
