Tanjong Karang MP declares support for PM Anwar

SHAH ALAM, Jan 24 — Another Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia MP has declared support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership.

In a Facebook post today, Tanjong Karang MP Datuk Zulkafperi Hanapi expressed his support after realising the need for political stability and Malaysia’s smooth economic recovery, while also acknowledging the hardship being faced by the people and rising living costs.

He said the decision is to ensure the well-being of the people and development in the Tanjong Karang Parliamentary constituency, adding that his support is expected to bring various benefits, including improved infrastructure and local needs.

“I also want to express support for the Madani government’s policies and initiatives, which prioritise the welfare, development, economy, and interests of the people until the next general election,” Zulkafperi said.

However, the MP reiterated his loyalty as a Bersatu member and pledged that he would not betray the party.

But to ensure plans for the Tanjong Karang Parliamentary constituency are in line with the Federal government, he said it would be appropriate for him to align with the leadership in Putrajaya led by Anwar.

“I also want to state that this declaration of support for the 10th Prime Minister’s leadership is without any coercion or pressure from any party, and I do it wholeheartedly for the benefit of Tanjong Karang’s people,” Zulkafperi said.

He is the sixth Opposition MP from Bersatu to declare support for Anwar’s leadership after
Bukit Gantang MP Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal, Jeli MP Zahari Kechik, Gua Musang Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid, and Labuan MP Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman.
