Tengku Amir attends Agong, Raja Permaisuri send-off

SHAH ALAM, Jan 30 — The Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah attended the farewell ceremony for Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah today.

His Highness welcomed the arrival of Their Majesties at Kompleks Bunga Raya of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

“The royal couple departed for the state of Pahang today during the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s return ceremony after completing their reign at Istana Negara, Kuala Lumpur.

“The special aircraft carrying Their Majesties departed at 11.16am, accompanied by two F/A-18D Hornet Royal Malaysian Air Force fighter jets,” said the Selangor Royal Office in a Facebook post.

Tengku Amir was accompanied by His Highness Tengku Laksamana Tengku Sulaiman Shah Alhaj, Engku Maharaja Lela Setia Paduka Dato’ Syed Budriz Putra Jamalullail, and Engku Panglima Setia Diraja Dato’ Syed Haizam Hishamuddin Putra Jamalullail.

A grand and colourful procession celebrated their of Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah’s arrival at and departure from KLIA.

The 200-metre-long procession, starting from the Kompleks Bunga Raya entrance towards its pavilion, symbolises the revival of the glorious era of ancient Malay kings, inspired by the epic of Sulalatus Sulatin or the Malay Annals.
