KUALA LANGAT, Feb 26 — The Bandar Saujana Putra flyover, announced in 2019, is set to open for public use in May, said state councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Izham Hashim.

He said the project is now 95 per cent complete, with its physical structure expected to be finished by March and made available for public use shortly after.

“Based on the current progress, the flyover’s physical structure is anticipated to be completed by March.

“After that, we need time to address minor tasks such as road pavement and electrical works before we can open the flyover to the public by May,” he told the press during a working visit to the flyover project site, here today.

According to previous reports, the project was expected to be completed by December of last year. However, several issues led to its delay, including the movement restrictions imposed during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Izham said that labour shortages, utility line works, and other complications had affected the project’s progress, but he reaffirmed his confidence in its public opening by May.

He also said the developer, Seribu Baiduri Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of LBS Bina Group Bhd, had given its commitment to meet the revised timeline.

“With the completion of the flyover, I am optimistic that traffic flow will improve in the area as vehicles travelling via the SKVE (South Klang Valley Expressway) will no longer need to pass through Bandar Saujana Putra to reach their destination,” he added.

On April 12, 2019, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced a RM60 million allocation to build the flyover, overseen by Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd (PNSB), to reduce traffic congestion in the area.

The project is anticipated to benefit some 65,000 nearby residents and users of the SKVE and The North-South Expressway Central Link (Elite).
