Matrade, Kuskop, SME Bank to lead United Arab Emirates trade mission

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 15 — The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade), in collaboration with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (Kuskop), as well as the SME Bank, will be leading 11 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) involved in the food and beverages (F&B) industry in an export acceleration mission to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In a statement today, Matrade said the mission is held in conjunction with Gulfood 2024 in Dubai, one of the world’s biggest food, beverage and luxury foodstuff trade fairs, from February 17 to February 24, 2024.

“The primary focus of this mission is to empower Malaysian SMEs to explore global markets, particularly the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, by establishing connections with prominent buyers.

“The mission not only serves as a platform to showcase Malaysia’s excellence in the F&B sector on a global stage but provides a gateway for our SMEs to access untapped markets,” said Matrade Transformation and Digital Trade Division director Khairul Nizam Moonier.

Under the trilateral collaboration between Matrade, Kuskop and SME Bank, 69 Malaysian SMEs have been assisted through six initiatives from 2022 to 2023, spanning multiple sectors, including F&B, healthcare, information and communications technology, as well as oil and gas.

“These efforts have resulted in the generation of RM1.19 billion worth of export sales,” said Matrade.

Matrade added that it remained committed to continuously assisting SMEs through its collaborative efforts, which serve as effective channels for Malaysian manufacturers and professional service providers to promote their world-class products and services globally.
