SHAH ALAM, Feb 8 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) chief operating officer Saipolyazan M Yusop has been appointed as the company’s new chief executive officer (CEO) effective immediately.

He takes over from Norita Mohd Sidek, who had served in the top position since August 2020.

In a statement, MBI welcomed Saipolyazan’s appointment and expressed confidence that his credibility and corporate experience of over 30 years will lead the firm to a higher level.

It also quoted Menteri Besar and MBI chairman Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari as saying during the duty handover ceremony yesterday that Saipolyazan’s expertise and dynamic leadership will add value to MBI as it strives for further transformation in the coming years.

“With his (Saipolyazan) excellent record across various sectors, the Menteri Besar is also confident that the collaboration and synergy between MBI and the state government can be driven to its highest level, in a bid to realise the state’s sustainable development agenda,” it said today.

Prior to his appointment in MBI, Saipolyazan held several key positions in various companies and government-linked corporations in and outside Selangor.

Among others, he had served in Petronas, Telekom Malaysia, Celcom Axiata and a top construction conglomerate in the Middle East.

He then took up a more prominent role when appointed as the CEO of the Selangor Zakat Board in June 2019 and Executive Jet Aviation Sdn Bhd in January 2023.

Saipolyazan is also currently a member of the Energy Commission.

In its statement, MBI extended its highest appreciation to Norita for her dedicated service throughout her more than 3 years as the company’s CEO.

“Under her leadership, MBI has undergone a phase of administrative and governance enhancement to the highest level through various initiatives,” it said.
