Selangor Sultan, Tengku Permaisuri extend wishes for peaceful, harmonious CNY

SHAH ALAM, Feb 9 — Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj and Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin have extended their warm wishes to the entire Chinese community for a Chinese New Year season that is celebrated with peace, harmony, and full of tolerance.

In a Facebook post today, the Their Royal Highnesses said that they hope to see the culture of prioritising family ties during the festive season be emulated and practised by the community.

“Their Royal Highnesses hope the cultural celebration is celebrated in peace, harmony, and tolerance.

“Their Royal Highnesses wish everyone in society, regardless of race, to model and practise the culture of promoting and strengthening family life during the festive season, especially when valuing and prioritising family time,” the post read.

The Selangor Royals also reminded road users returning to their hometowns to be cautious on the road to ensure a safe journey to their destination.

Chinese New Year celebrations begin Saturday (February 10), marking the start of the Year of the Dragon.
